Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road, Pakenham South

In September and October 2018, we shared our proposed design of the Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road Upgrade and wanted to hear your feedback.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us your thoughts about our proposed design. You can find out more about what we heard below.

As part of the Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road Upgrade, we will:

  • add an extra lane each direction between Princes Freeway and Manks Road
  • install new roundabouts at Ballarto Road and Hall Road, as well as south of Deep Creek
  • install new traffic lights at Greenhills Road
  • widen the existing Princes Freeway ramp roundabouts
  • build a new bridge over Deep Creek near the water recycling plant
  • add safety barriers along the road.

The Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road Upgrade will:

  • improve traffic flow and travel times
  • provide an alternative north-south route in the Pakenham South area
  • lower the risk and severity of crashes with safety barriers.

    Next steps

The Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road Upgrade is part of the South Eastern Roads Upgrade, which will upgrade six key roads in the south east. The South Eastern Roads Upgrade will be delivered as Public Private Partnership (PPP). This means we’ll engage a contractor through a competitive process to deliver the design and construction of the road upgrades.

We released a request for proposal (RFP) on 25 March 2019 to deliver 12 projects as part of the South Eastern and Northern Roads Upgrades. Construction will start from 2020.
