Childs Road, Mill Park

In September and October 2018, we shared our proposed design of the Childs Road Upgrade and wanted to hear your feedback.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us your thoughts about our proposed design. You can find out more about what we heard below.

Planning update

The Childs Road Upgrade Planning Scheme Amendment (C232 to the Whittlesea Planning Scheme) was approved by the Minister for Planning and Gazetted on 15 August 2019. The amendment provides site specific controls via an incorporated document permitting development of the project without the need for further planning permits subject to conditions.

Formal feedback from property owners and occupiers, local council, government departments and agencies and other interested parties who may be affected by the Childs Road Upgrade has informed the Planning Scheme Amendment. To view the approved Childs Road Planning Scheme Amendment documentation visit the Planning Victoria website.

As part of the Childs Road Upgrade, we’ll:

  • add an extra lane in each direction between Beaumont Crescent and Prince of Wales Avenue
  • upgrade the roundabout with traffic lights at Bowman Drive
  • upgrade the Dalton Road intersection
  • build a new bridge over Darebin Creek, and upgrade the existing bridge
  • build walking and cycling paths along the road
  • install safety barriers along the road.

The Childs Road Upgrade will:

  • improve traffic flow and travel times
  • provide an alternative route for eastwest travel that avoids the South Morang and Epping town centres
  • make it easier and safer for you to walk or cycle around your local area
  • lower the risk and severity of crashes with safety barriers.
